Having Dr. Drew pop up in the middle of a Bulwark ad will wake you right up if you’re nodding.

Trump cannot fit a Speakership around the dockets.

I never want to hear "Democrats in Disarray" EVER AGAIN.

"Rule 26 - Temporary Step Aside of a Member of Leadership Who is Indicted" was adopted in January and states that any GOP leader indicted of a felony with a potential prison sentence of two years or more needs to step aside. Looks like this would disqualify Trump for Speaker of the House.

Hmmm. Not that I recall. But I do watch on an iPad so it could be that iOS blocks these ads. Thanks for the reply!

Great pod, but the coolest thing was learning that Joe and I are from the same district. Gotta love that long and skinny CA2! Proud to have you out there repping us, Joe.

I listened to the live it on utube. I love Tim but sometimes he just takes over and I wanted to hear more of what Joe had to say because he is around the Congress more and he had more info no opinion of what is going on. I wish Tim would tone it down sometimes and let other talk. This goes for some of the podcasts too.

The MyKevin kills me— every single time you say it, I laugh.

There might be a lesson here with regard to taking nihilists into coalition.

Are we still having Thursday Night Bulwark?

I live in a small upper middle class town in northern NJ. Last night the League of Women Voters held its annual Town Council Forum for candidates running for our town council. This is usually where moms and dads running for local office debate things like new turf for the high school football field and whether we should allow a vape shop to come in where the old sushi restaurant no one went to used to be. Last night the forum was canceled because the Republican candidates boycotted on the grounds that the League of Women Voters is a radical liberal group that supports open borders and CRT funded by George Soros (it is actually funded by the occasional sale of baked goods). I used to think dysfunction in Washington was a joke but we could all live in the real world in our local communities and leave the idiocy to D.C. I didn't realize to what extent it is coming for us all.

Once upon a time Peter Navarro (yes, that one) ran for office several times in San Diego. I was president of our local Community Council and we hosted a LWV candidates forum to which he was invited. He refused to come unless it was clear I'd do nothing more than introduce the moderator and then sit down. Now I watch what's happening to him with the utmost in delicious schadenfreude. :D

It's really now the whole party. I mean, it could have been different, but it's the chosen path. I feel sad, disappointed, and disgusted, but I left as soon as the convention nominated Trump in 2016 and probably should have sooner, but for hope there would be a stronger stand against populism and Trump.

When you say that "government shutdown has to be part of the negotiating," do you mean no one can get the votes to be Speaker unless s/he promises to shut down the government in 43 days? This is quite scary if true.

McHenry's first act, kicking Pelosi out of her office, says a lot about how serious the Republicans are in actually governing by working with Dems. Moderate Republican is an oxymoron. All are politically unredeemable, with most dialed in at 10 and some at 11.

According to the NYT, the decision to evict Ms. Pelosi was made by McCarthy "on his way out the door".

If the Senate is the adults table then the House has become the kids table. Watch out for things being thrown though the air and whining.

To the Democrats who laughed when McCarthy tried to save himself as the House speaker. What are you ten ? I take that back ten year olds are better behaved then that. You are supposed to be the adults, act like it ! There are just times I want the ghosts of the founding fathers to appear and admonish people. This is one of those times.

The Republicans have been throwing tantrums like bratty 5 year olds for years. Particularly their orange cult leader. No admonishment for them? Only the Democrats are required to act like adults?

Members of my party aren't allowed to use the Mom, he made me do defense. The crazy Republicans have plenty of people yelling at them.

It's not only (or all) Democrats who are laughing. Overall, it is very disconcerting to see how much smirking is going on across the political spectrum. This is not entertainment. This is an extremely serious situation and there are millions of lives (both home and abroad) that depend on a functional Congress.

I'm laughing. I'm also worried and angry and did I say worried? I'm old and I remember when folks on both sides of the aisle actually DID work together to get things done. Now we have <waves hands around> THIS.

Loved the show and can never get enough of Tim/JVL commentary. However, you guys (especially you Tim, sorry!) need to let Joe get in a word edgewise!

My guess is that it starts to look like the food fight scene in Animal House and they end up asking Kevie to return give him a rule change on the vacate motion.
